I also express profound appreciation to the PDP Party Chairman and all esteemed members of our great party for their tireless support and belief in the ideals we represent.
However, as we reflect on the just concluded 2025 Local Government Elections, particularly in Itire Ikate. I must speak truthfully and from a place of deep concern for our democracy.
This election, marred by glaring irregularities and manipulation, was nothing short of a mockery of democracy. The will of the people was trampled upon. The APC, in their usual fashion, has once again imposed a candidate on the people, disregarding transparency, fairness, and the very principles that define a democratic society.
The entire process was riddled with fraud, voter suppression, and systemic rigging.
We have strong reasons to believe that both LASIEC and INEC, the electoral bodies responsible for conducting and safeguarding the integrity of our elections, have been compromised and bought over by the ruling party.
This shameful conduct does not just undermine the electoral process, it retrogresses the development of our community.
When leaders are selected through corruption instead of the people’s mandate, we lose the very essence of democracy and risk a future built on falsehood and oppression.
But to the good people of Itire-Ikate, I urge you: do not lose hope. Remain steadfast. Our resolve for a better Itire Ikate must remain unshaken.
Let us continue to pursue justice through peaceful, lawful means, and hold firm to the belief that truth shall ultimately prevail. A better Itire Ikate is still possible, but only when we rise, together, to reject the systems of fraud and uphold the values of transparency, equity, and accountability.
